Chris Beghin
Chris has a degree in interpreting which he attained in Brussels in 1999. After a specialization year at the University of Heidelberg he worked as Benelux account manager for Lamy. In 2001 a combination of chance and coincidence landed him a job at the planning department of GVB, the Amsterdam municipal public transport operator. After a number of intermediary stages he became responsible for the entire planning process pertaining to the bus operations. In 2004 Chris started working for TransTec. Being an all-round professional with many interests, he saw himself in the course of time assigned to very diverse projects. Starting with monitoring, tendering and cost indicators, later he was send on secondment to Connexxion in Arnhem, as a transit planner. Later projects include strategic plans, reports for Transport Ministry Departments such as KpVV and AVV, concession management, market research, marketing, fare systems, passenger information and the organisation of educational trips and workshops. In the course of different projects in the latest years Chris has had the opportunity to make himself familiar with several topics such as lightrail infrastructure planning, vehicle and system characteristics and operating cost calculation.
Thanks to the above mentioned variety in projects, Chris is now deemed an expert in planning, operations, marketing, information, infrastructure, high quality public transport, process- and project management, rail vehicles and light rail. His language skills (Chris is fluent in Dutch, English, French and German) and international outlook guarantee an up-to-date knowledge of international public transport developments. Chris likes to work in teams, but he is able to work very productive on his own as well. He has well honed communicative skills, and is widely considered reliable and meticulous. His focus on perfection while managing a project, does not keep him from appreciating and effectively promoting underlying strategic goals and interests.
