Fred van der Blij
About thirty years ago Fred graduated from the Transport Academy in Tilburg. During his first working experience at NZH, a regional transport operator in the northwest of the Netherlands, he learned the ins and outs of public transport. He started his career at the planning department, where he acquired an extensive know-how in time table, duty and staff planning. Up till today Fred feels like a fish in water at the crossroads between strategic and operational public transport planning. After 23 years at NZH, which had become Connexxion in the meanwhile, he decided to give his career a new direction. He started as a senior consultant at TransTec and became general manager in 2003.
At NZH/Connexxion and in the course of many projects at TransTec, Fred has performed well on the interface between government and the operating companies. Fred has strong analytical skills, has a pragmatic, solution-oriented, no-nonsense approach and excels in safeguarding his client’s goals and interests. He is flexible and empathic. Arriving at the right place is more important to him than navigating the levelled road that leads there. Fred has great standing amongst the Dutch public transport community.
