Joost Maas
In early 2009 Joost organised a team building day for TransTec and one thing led to another. Meanwhile he has become something of a fixture at TransTec team building events, but he also got involved in TransTec projects on a freelance basis. The first joint project aimed at improving processes and process control at the planning department of a major Dutch Public Transport operating company. After successfully wrapping up this project Joost started participating in diverse TransTec projects on a regular basis.
The close cooperation between Joost and TransTec is a textbook case of a win-win situation. TransTec has extensive knowledge of the Public Transport branch. Joost has a marked talent for bringing about change within organisations. The combination of both has proven to be of great value to TransTec and its clients alike. The world of transport was not at all new to Joost. He studied Technical Business Administration at the Technical University of Eindhoven and thus got acquainted with the area of expertise of Transport and Logistics. His first working experiences took place at public transport companies and at Dutch Railways. Later he would join a consultant firm at which he regularly got assignments to projects at Dutch Railways.
Joost excels at bringing people together and opening up (clogged) channels of communication. He is capable of skilfully defusing tense situations and at the same time preparing the ground for a better understanding and cooperation in the future. He is quite literally an ice breaker. He aims to bring underlying causes for conflict and tensions out in the open and defuse them by having people talk about them openly and candidly. He lays a solid new foundation for (renewed) mutual respect and he creates space for people to grow and develop themselves again. And whenever this happens, major gains for all involved are guaranteed.
Joost run his own company called IJsbreker Interim Inspiration. The company specialises in interim and project management, mediation and coaching. He assists businesses, departments and people in developing themselves and in achieving their goals as well as higher value. His business activities are not restricted to the Public Transport branch. He is working in many other lines of business, often at the crossroads between the public and commercial sector. More information on Joost and Icebreaker is available at www.ijsbreker.net.
