Thomas Boer

Thomas joined TransTec in October 2009 as a junior consultant. Before that he had been working at TransTec as a trainee. In November 2009 he acquired his master’s degree in Urban Planning and almost simultaneously started working full time for TransTec.

After finishing grammar school Thomas started studying Human Geography and Urban Planning at the University of Utrecht. During his studies his interest in Urban Planning in general and transport planning specifically was truly sparked. In 2008 he wrapped up his bachelor’s degree with a thesis on the future of Schiphol Airport as a mainport. After that he continued his studies and obtained his master’s degree in Urban Planning. He wrote a thesis on road pricing and its relationship with public transport patronage. TransTec provided him with a helpful professional environment in which to write his thesis. Besides working on his thesis he also participated in ongoing TransTec projects allowing him to broaden his scope.

As an urban planner Thomas has a broad outlook as far as issues regarding mobility are concerned. During his time at university he already acquired the taste of working in project teams, e.g. on urban planning assignments commissioned by the cities of Hengelo and Almere. In the course of these assignments he acquired the skill to develop practical solutions and to weigh different  - sometimes conflicting – interests. While writing his master’s thesis he successfully proved his ability to work in an independent, scientific and accurate manner.
